HOW TO JOIN
The fastest way to join Job Corps is to call 800-733-JOBS. The person answering the call will explain Job Corps' eligibility requirements and benefits, answer questions, and refer the prospective student to an admissions counselor in the local area. Once you contact an Outreach and Admissions Counselor, the counselor will work with you to determine your eligibility for the program. Outreach and Admissions Counselors conduct an interview with a potential applicant and perform a background check to ensure that the applicant meets the eligibility requirements and can physically and emotionally benefit from Job Corps. The counselor explains exactly what is expected of Job Corps students as well as how Job Corps can benefit that applicant. An applicant must also sign a pre-admission agreement pledging to comply with Job Corps' Zero Tolerance for Drugs and Violence Policy.
If eligibility is approved, the counselor generally assigns the young person to the closest center offering the training in which he or she is interested. The admissions process is an important one; it ensures a good match between the applicant and the Job Corps center.
Once paperwork is completed and the applicant is assigned to a particular Job Corps center, travel arrangements are made so the Job Corps student arrives safely to begin training. The admissions process may take several weeks.
